Classic Panettone - Nannini Dolci e Caffè

It seems that the Panettone it has been part of the Italian tradition since 1400 and is said to have been created just for a Christmas lunch. According to one of the stories that accompanies the panettone, the cook in the service of Ludovico il Moro was commissioned to prepare a Christmas lunch, but he forgot the cake in the oven which charred. A dishwasher, Toni, had already prepared something with what was left in the pantry, flour, butter, eggs, raisins and cedar peel and proposed to serve this dessert. This preparation was a great success on the duke's table and when they asked what it was the cook replied "Toni's bread", that is the "Panettone".
